Obituary
Edward Robert Lyons “Ted”
December 21, 1940 – July 31, 2025
Edward Robert “Ted” Lyons, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on December 21, 1940, Ted was the cherished son of Elmer and Romaine Lyons, both of whom preceded him in death.
Ted shared a devoted marriage with his wife, Karla Lyons, who was his partner and constant support throughout life’s journey. He is survived by his children Kevin (Karen), Sherry (Donny), Tanya, Stacy (Johnny), Jason (Sabrina), Rachelle, and Kendall.
He was a proud grandfather to Eric (Alicia), Amanda (Jordan), Nate, Kiana, Kai (Breanna), Mia, and Ariana Star. His joy extended further to his great-grandchildren, Hudson Blue Carrasco, Pierre Lynette, Marlyna Rosalie, and Georgianna Sol, who brought him endless smiles and warmth in his later years.
Ted’s career included meaningful contributions during his time with Disney. He designed, wrote, and implemented the Responsible Vendor Program for Disney Parks and Resorts, taught Resorts Traditions classes at Disney University for new employees, and created an employee–management communication forum. He also played a role in recruiting for the Disney College Program, traveling extensively to connect with young people beginning their careers.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ted was an amazing man with many talents. He was a licensed pilot, glider pilot, and open water scuba diver, and he enjoyed building hot rods. He also previously held a U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance, a testament to the trust placed in his character and abilities.
Ted’s life was defined by love for family, devotion to his loved ones, and the steady presence he provided to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and the wisdom he shared generously. Though he is gone from this world, the legacy of his love and achievements will live on in his family for generations to come.
Funeral Services with Military Honors at Florida National Cemetery will be held Monday, December 29, 2025 at 11:30am.
